How much money do you spend on beauty products? If you are like most of us you spend way more than you’d like to, but we need products to help us be healthy and have good skin. Olive and coconut oil are both great products that can substitute for many of the beauty products you use today, and at a fraction of the cost.
I personally love coconut oil mainly because it has a great smell. Even though it’s called coconut oil it’s more of a cream until melted, as you can see from the photo above. Coconut oil has antibacterial and antifungal properties that are great for your skin. It moisturizes, penetrates, and has a great smell, as I mentioned earlier.
To use coconut oil for wrinkles and a moisturizer you simply clean you face first and splash with cold water first. This closes your pores. Take a small thin layer of coconut oil (a little goes a long way), and apply to your face before bedtime. Your skin will love you for this!
It’s also great for those rough cracked heels we sometimes get from wearing sandals in the summer. Last, but not least, you can use coconut oil on your hair for an oil treatment. Cover your hair and leave for 10 to 20 minutes. Next, wash your hair as normal.
There are tons of ways to use coconut oil that will amaze you and one of the best books I’ve seen on this is “I’m Coo-Coo for Coconut“. This small book is only $1.25 on Amazon and has over 75 uses for coconut you can use every day to save money.
Olive oil is liquid form all the time, unlike coconut oil. It is full of anti-aging antioxidants and also has hydrating squalene. Squalene is an organic compound that comes from some plants and shark liver oil. A derivative of squalene is used in many skin products you see on the market today, so why not get it for pennies, not dollars. It’s great for hair and nails too. Many women use olive oil for an eye makeup remover and wrinkle remover. For those of you with small babies, you will be happy to know that olive oil is great for diaper rash and other irritations. Grownups have been known to use olive oil for eczema with good results.
Tired of buying shaving cream for your legs? Just rub some olive oil on them and shave away. It’s easy, smooth, and great for the skin!
Cooking with Olive and Coconut Oil
There are tons of beauty uses for olive and coconut oil but they are also great for cooking. I have a sister that always fries her eggs in coconut oil. She loves it. For cooking, I generally use vegetable and olive oils. I keep the coconut oil in my bathroom where I put on my makeup and clean my face.
See how many of these oils can replace expensive items you are using in your beauty regimen. Your skin will love you and your pocketbook will get fatter!
